Matte, Olympic, and Back to School Nails

Hey guys! So I haven't posted any new nails recently I got carried away with my summer! Here are my most recent nail arts :)

Matte Nails W/ Polka Dots and French Tips

What You Will Need:
Black Nail Polish
Essie Matte About You
Top Coat
Dotter Tools

Start off by painting your nails two coats of black polish. Now paint a thin coat of Essie's Matte About You polish. Next use a dotting tool dipped into your favorite top coat and dot polka dots on your thumb middle finger and pinkie. Finally paint the tips of your ring and index finger and your done! DO NOT FINISH WITH A TOP COAT
You can also use a black matte polish but I recommend buying a matte top coat so you can make any polish matte. It may seem a little expensive for a nail polish but it's worth it. You can also get it from Amazon for cheaper.

2012 Olmpic Nails
Even though the Olympics have already past you can still wear this design to show your enthusiasm!
What Wou Will Need:
Blue Polish
White or Off White Polish
Red Polish
Green Polish
Yellow Polish
Black Polish
White Striper
Sparkle Top Coat
Dotter Tools

First paint your base coats (thumb-white, index middle ring-red, pinkie-blue). Make sure your nails are dry, and use your dotter tool dipped in red nail polish and place a dot on the left of your nail. Do the same with the blue, black, yellow, and green placing the dots in a staggered line. Once those dots dry use a smaller dotter dipped in white and dot the middle of those dots to create the illusion of a circle. For the index and ring fingers simply paint a sparkle top coat over the red. Moving onto the middle finger paint the right corner blue. Then use your striper to paint white verticle lines. Now use a small dotter and dot "stars" in the blue square. For the pinkie use your white striper to paint a cross with two diagonal lines going through the center. Over the white use a small dotter dipped in red polish and stipple it to create Great Britian's flag. Finish off with a top coat and there you go! A design that everyone will love! (you can also change the England flag with Russia's or Brazil's for the 2014 and 2016 Olympics)

Owls and Polka Dots
These are my back to school nails. Their cute fun and will for sure get plenty of compliments!
What You Will Need:
Two of Your Favorite Basecoat Colors
Brown Polish
White Polish
Dotting Tools
Start by painting all of your nails with a basecoat except your middle finger. On your middle finger paint a large oval leaving enough room at the bottom of your nail for ears. Use a big dotter tool to make a large brown semi cirlce on either side of your nail then fill it in for the wings. Clean the dotter tool with nail polish remover. Use that dotter tool dipped in white and dot on two eyes and three white cirlces under that. Clean the dotter again and this time use the brown and dot a slightly smaller dot over the white two white dots you made for the eyes. Use the same dotting tool one more time and dot the color you used as your basecoat on the bottom of the three white dots to create feathers. Use a smaller dotting tool dipped in white and place a dot in the left corner of each eye. Take the same dotting tool or a toothpick and paint a rounded triangle right under the eyes for the beak. Finally use whatever sized dotter you like and dot polka dots on your other nails. Finish off with a top coat and your done! You can do this design using the same color on both hands or use your two favorite colors (one on each hand) like mine.

One Direction and Pig nails

1D nails
A lot of people are obsessed with 1D so I just had to do 1D nails! And perfect timing too, one of my friends is going to their concert this week so she wanted me to do her nails. No tutorial on this one but if you want one please comment! On the pinkie is the Irish flag (Nial), on the ring finger is suspenders (Louis), on the middle finger is the British flag (everyone except Nial I guess), on the pointer finger is a mustache (I'm not really sure I'm not the biggest 1D fan), and on the thumb 1D. I hope you like it even if your not a 1D fan!

This little piggie...
I know I have already done pigs but these pigs are different from the other design and so much cuter! The french manicure gives the design a classier look than if all of the nails were painted solid and the pigs are just adorable!
What you will need:
Base coat color polish
Black nail polish
Black nail art polish
White nail art polish
Toothpick

First paint your thumb and ring finger your base color. Then on your other three fingers paint just the tip the same color as your thumb and pointer fingers. Next on your thumb and pointer finger paint a semi-circle facing the corner of your nail so it looks like the pig is peaking over the edge. Now with you black nail art brush (if you don't have one of these you can use a toothpick) paint two rounded triangles on the top of the head (semi-circle) for ears. After that dip your toothpick in the white polish and dot on the eyes and nose. After the white circles for the eyes dot a smaller black dot then another white dot. For the nose use your toothpick and dot two black circles in the center. Finally with your toothpick dot scattered white dots on all of your nails. Finish with a topcoat and you have a beautiful design that's worth showing the world!

Cookie Monster nails

Cookie Monster
This design is perfect for little kids or the sesame street lovers out there!

What you will need:
Blue nail polish
Light brown or nude nail polish
Dark brown nail polish
White nail polish
Black nail polish
Toothpick

Start by painting your big toe blue and the rest of your nails the light brown/nude color. Next on your little toes use your dark brown to paint "chocolate chips" by dotting the brush on the nail for the desired shape. Now on your big toe take the toothpick and dip it in white nail polish, paint two large circles in the middle of the toe nail and add black dots looking in different directions. for the mouth you can either use a toothpick or a nail art brush. If using the nail art brush or a toothpick, paint a straight horizontal line and a curved line connecting the two corners and color in the semi-circle. Repeat on other foot/hand, add a top coat, and your done!

Rose nails

Roses
This is another way you can paint your nails with roses without having to paint every nail the rose pattern. It saves time and gives an interesting look to the design!

I already have a tutorial for roses so look at that and paint your pointer and ring finger a different color and add stripes! I hope you like my nails and I'll keep more designs coming!

Chicks
This design is perfect for Easter!
What you will need:
Yellow nail polish
White nail polish
Black nail polish
Orange nail polish
Begin by painting your nails yellow. Then on your ring finger, with white, paint a bottom shell and a top shell, but make sure you leave room for the eyes and beak. To paint on the beak just make one small brush where you want the beak to go. repeat on your middle finger and your finished with your easy Easter design!

Lace nails
This design looks intricate, but it is very simple.
What you will need:
Pink nail polish
Black crackle paint
Black nail art paint

On either side of the crackle paint two black lines. Now with your toothpick start making semi-circles on both of the lines you just painted on either side of the crackle. Once you have done this wait for it to dry and apply a top coat. Finally, you have your intricate yet simple design.

Use the toothpick to paint the tentacles and dark pink spots. On your pointer finger use your dark blue and paint two circles, one bigger than the other, and paint two white lines on the sides to make the bubble look like it's glistening in the water. Finally on your thumb start like you are painting your pinkie, but leave enough room for the goldfish! Now dip the toothpick into the orange and paint on the fish. iPhone app nails

App nails!

This design was extremely hard! So this would be for the more advanced nail artists. This is such a creative nail idea! I get most of my ideas from nail pictures on the internet, but I'm starting to make up my own. If you have any ideas comment or if you want a tutorial for this please comment!

Cheetah Print Nails

My friend loved the cheetah print from my animal print nail design, so she told me I had to paint her nails all cheetah print!
The instructions on how to do this are in the animal print nail design the only difference is you paint all of your nails.

Pig and Cow Nail Designs

Pig and Cow Nails
Pig Design
What you will need:
Light pink polish
Hot pink polish
Black nail art polish
Toothpick

My friend told me to do cows on one hand and pigs on the other, so I did! She was so excited when I came to school and showed her my nails! Another thing you could do with this is add different farm animals like a horse or little chicks to one hand. I hope you like this as much as my friend does!

First paint all of your nails light pink. On your thumb and ring finger use your toothpick and paint polka dots evenly on your nail (for this step I find it easier to put a little polish on a piece of paper and dip the toothpick in that). Then take your hot pink polish and paint a semi-circle at the tip of your pinkie, middle, and pointer finger nails. Then paint two strokes for the ears leaving space for the eyes. Lastly, use your black nail art polish and paint on the two eyes and two lines for the nostrils. And your done!

Cow Design
What you will need:
White polish
Light Pink polish
Black nail art polish

Start by painting your nails white. Then use the black nail art polish to paint cow print on every nail but the thumb. To do this use the tip of your brush to make a dot and keep dotting until you get the shape of a cow spot. Make the spots as big or as small as you want and put as many or as few as you want on there! Now on your thumbnail paint a light pink semi-circle at the tip of the nail. Then use your black to create spots on either side of the nail (black deformed semi-circles) and above the nose on either side two small cow spots. All that's left are the eyes, use your black nail art brush and paint two dots in the center of the nail. Now put a top coat on to keep the shine and your done!

Tribal Nail Design

This is my insperation. I love this design! I know mine isn't as neat
but I will keep practicing!

Tribal Nails
What you will need:
Light Brown/Tan nail polish
White nail polish and white nail art polish
Gold nail polish w/ sparkles
Black nail art polish
Toothpick

I am obsessed with anything tribal print! So when I saw this design online I just had to try it! This design takes a while to do so make sure you leave enough time to finish. I painted mine late at night and got too tired to paint both hands :). I hope it will be an easy design and one you can wear everyday! It's perfect if you're obsessed with tribal print like me!

First paint the base coat (thumb and middle finger light brown, pointer finger and pinkie white, and ring finger gold). On your pinkie paint three black lines, then alternate diagonal lines to make a zigzag pattern. Next on your middle finger paint a white line down the middle and on the left side of the line make a black zigzag. To the right of the line paint a gold line then a black line. There should be one stripe of light brown when you finish. Then on your pointer finger paint two lines. To the very left paint three diagonal lines(make them small) then paint three diagonals going the other direction and so on until you get to the top of your nail. Last for the tricky part, the thumb. Leave enough space at the bottom so you can paint a zigzag (I know a lot of zigzags!) and paint a gold line then a white line. Next leave a little more space above the white line and paint a thin black line, a thicker white line, and a thin black line. Go back to the bottom and paint a black zigzag and use a toothpick to paint white polka dots on the outside of the zigzag. In the other space you skipped at the top paint black diagonal lines. Now for the last part! Paint a wavy line in the white closest to the top of your thumb and take a toothpick and paint black dots on the outside of the wave. Your done! All that's left is a top coat to keep the design looking shiny!

Nail Polish Reviews

Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear nail polish is amazing! It stays on for weeks without a top coat and looks fantastic on your nails. Color: Caribbean Coral.
I got the Kiss nail art set for Easter and I have loved it! the brushes are the perfect size and even with one coat the sparkles show up perfectly. It comes with black, white, and silver sparkles. It also comes with stencils. I've used two of the stencils and they are stickers you put on your nail and paint over them. The only thing I don't like about the stencils is they stretch when you take them off your nail.

 Color: Turquoise and Caicos
I have gotten so many complements when I wear this color. All of my friends love it! It's a little expensive at $8.00, but I think its worth it. For the color to show up all the way you have to use two coats, but make sure each coat dries completely before applying another or the polish will clump.
Sinful Colors is a less expensive brand for only $2.00. For two dollars it works great for darker colors, but the neon yellow and neon pink (and I'm sure the rest of the neon colors) You have to apply around 4 or 5 coats to get the color you want and it doesn't have that nail polish shine to it. I bought the white yesterday to do a design and I only had to put on one or two coats to be solid white.
Sally Hansen Crackle overcoat works so well! I haven't used it too much, but I used it in a very cute lace design that I will have a tutorial on soon. You can also use it over your favorite nail polish for an exotic look. Make sure you screw the lid on tight or it will dry out and you don't want that to happen. Another problem is when you scrape of the access polish from the brush it dries on the side so when you close the lid it gets stuck. But when this happens you can run it under hot water and to make it easier to open.

What you will need:
Green polish
Light green polish
Purple polish
Light purple polish
Pink polish
Light pink polish
Blue polish
Light blue polish
White polish
Yellow polish
Orange polish
Black polish
Dotter tool or a toothpick

Owl necklaces, shirts, earrings, and rings are very popular. So why not carry on the fad to your nails? This is an easy design that you can do on any nail length, from short to long. Who wouldn't want these cute little owls on their nails? If you don't have the colors I used you can substitute them for other colors.

First paint your nails green, purple, pink, blue, and light pink. Then paint the section where the half- moon shape would be on your nail for the belly of the owl, so here you will use all of your lighter colors, light green, purple, pink, blue, and white. Next take the darker color you painted your nails and use a toothpick or a dotter tool to paint dots on the belly (lighter part) of the owl. After you dot the belly, use the dotter to paint on the yellow of the eye and then the black. Now all that's left is the beak. Take your orange and paint a small stripe for the beak. Repeat on other hand, apply top coat, and your done!

Mickey and Minnie Mouse Nail Design

Mickey and Minnie Mouse

What you will need:
Red nail polish
White nail art polish
Black nail polish

Going to Disney World any time soon? Even if you aren't this design is super easy and so cute! You can do this on your nails, your friend's nails, or if you have kids I'm sure they would love having Mickey and Minnie Mouse on their nails! I hope you enjoy this design!

First paint your nails a bright red. Then on your ring finger take your black polish and paint one big dot and two smaller ones for the ears. Next on your thumb paint  a black bow by painting two triangles points touching. On the rest of your nails make polka dots with your white nail art brush. Cupcake Nail Art

Cupcakes
What you will need:
Pink Polish
Teal polish
White nail art polish
Cherry red polish
Colors for sprinkles
Toothpick

Cupcakes are delicious! That's what makes them fun and cute to wear on your nails! You can substitute any of these colors to make the cupcake look more realistic but I like colorful so I went with my favorite color of Essie nail polish, turquoise and caicos. This design will make your nails look almost as yummy as a real cupcake!

First paint your nail the color you want the bottom of the cupcake to be (pink). Then paint two thirds of your nail teal leaving one third of pink left. Next take your white nail art brush and paint on the icing, icing is never perfect so put as much on as you like on your cupcakes! After you paint on the icing paint the white lines on the one third of pink. Make sure the lines are touching the teal for the full effect of the cupcake wrapper. For this next step you can use a toothpick or the brush in the bottle. Take your red nail polish and place a red dot at the top of each cupcake for a cherry. Although cupcakes don't have cherries it completes the look. Finally, choose four of your favorite colors for the sprinkles. Use your toothpick and dip it in one of the colors you have chosen and dot sprinkles on the icing part of the cupcake. Repeat until there are enough sprinkles so that your nails pop with color! Add a top coat and your done!

Animal Print Nails

Animal print
What you will need:
Orange polish
Gray polish
White polish
Yellow polish
Gold polish
Black polish(easier with nail art brush)

Rawrr! Time for animal print! In this design there are tiger, leopard, giraffe, cheetah, and zebra animal prints. Change whatever you want and make it your own nail design! It is an easy and fun way to dress up an outfit and express yourself!

Lets get started:
First paint your nails orange, gray, yellow, gold, and white. Then carefully use the black to brush on the zebra and tiger stripes.(this is where it is easier if you have a nail art brush, I did mine with a normal sized brush and they don't look too good) Next be creative with the leopard(gray) by painting dots and semi-circles on the nail. You can also make the dots deformed making it look more like a leopard's fur.Follow the leopard is the giraffe. After you have painted the nail yellow, take your black polish, again, and paint semi to closed messy circles. Once that has dried take your gold or another shade of yellow and paint inside of the circle. Now for the cheetah(gold, I used sparkle but feel free to use a plain gold) recreate the circles you painted from the giraffe and make them smaller, also bring in the dots from the leopard and scatter them any where you think looks good! Then take your orange polish and fill in the circles. Repeat on the other hand and there you have it! An easy and fun way to dress up your nails!
